Here ends the great weekend at EGX Birmingham this year, granted that I'd only spent two of the four days at the event. I feel for the people who were present at the stands throughout the whole time! The guys I'd met looked so exhausted by Sunday, and more so painful to know they had to start work early by Monday morning!
Anyhow, it was great to meet everyone there. I sure made many new connections, from fellow artists to game developers. There was an awesome collection of exhibits, and my focus in particular was the indie section. Pixel art is making a huge comeback these days, from The Escapists from Team 17, Riot - Civil Unrest by Merge Games, Void & Meddler by a collaboration of people under Mi-Clos, just to name a few.
Saw a couple of remake of old classics as well, two that struck out was the Worms game with a new artistic direction, and Oddworld: New'n' Tasty!, which apparently had been out for a couple of months already (why am I so slow to pick up these things.)
There is a lot more I can definitely ramble about, from the games that really caught my attention for its creative approach and artistic elements. But alas, I will be here all day if I was to cover every aspect of my journey. To summarise in a few words: AMAZING! Bring on the next EGX :D
I'll be attending Play Expo this October up at Manchester, so I hope to meet more people there, and perhaps see some familiar faces. For now, it's back to work. I've recently reacquainted myself with 3DS Max to better my skills with the program. I've also acquired ZBrush and have started some experimentations with it. I feel it will be a great boost for my portfolio.
Keep watch for more updates and progresses in my work.
